Frequently Asked Questions:

Ordering online should be fairly straightforward. You can set up a subscription, or order a one off box, but the system is designed to facilitate regular orders so some functions might seem strange!
First- you’ll need to check our delivery area (it’s below but you can also put in your address and the system will tell you if we deliver to you, and if not where your nearest hub is).
Then add you items to your cart, if you want to order a bespoke box, make sure you put ‘Bespoke Box’ in your cart- it has a value of £0 and works as a way of telling the system you’re building your own order.
For your first order you will need to set up an account, include a detailed address, phone number, delivery instructions and pay up front for your first delivery. For subsequent orders you will be billed at the end of the week.
You don’t need to ‘check out’ after your first order! So long as your items are in your basket at the cut off point for your round, the items will be processed into an order for you automatically. That way you can add items to your shopping each week as they occur to you and then they’ll be ordered once- just make sure you’ve remembered to log in each time.
You will receive an email confirmation- if you don’t and you’re expecting an order, email us (after you’ve checked your spam filter!)
-
On the front of your box, you will find your order in sticker form. Each item should either be ticked or have ‘Sub’ (substitute) or ‘0’ for a refund. If we’re missing items they will be taken off your order before you are billed on a Thursday night.
If there’s an item missing that is ticked, or has nothing written next to it, its always best just to give me an email and make sure we’re aware of it- sometimes items drop out of boxes on the van or our packers might miss something- and we’ll always refund these anomalies. They’re rare but we’re all human and these things happen!
-
Each week, once the orders are completed, I go through and take off any credits and make sure any missing items are refunded, and then I process the orders for billing. At this point you will get an email to remind you how much is due and will be debited from your account within the next 12 hours.

All set boxes can have 1 exclusion on their account. The reason we only set it as 1 item to swap out is because any more than this and the box becomes much harder for us to make, it takes extra time and costs us more in staffing and ordering and planning. If you know your family regularly don’t need a few items then it’s probably best to order a bespoke box so you can get exactly what you’d like each week.

Very occasionally we do put special items in set boxes, more often if they’re of higher value, but in our bread-and-butter-boxes, the ones we sell a lot each week, we include as much as we possibly can for the cost. That means that mushrooms and special soft fruit can take up a huge amount of your budget and that makes the boxes less filling.
We try really hard to make the boxes good value, so at different times of the year that means you’ll get squash a lot, don’t worry- find a cool dark place and most of them will store happily for weeks if not months- or sometimes you’ll get kale more than you’d normally buy it, or a glut of tomatoes or herbs in the summer.
Although a bit of an inconvenience when they’re cluttering up the fridge, they’re also an indicator of what’s in season, what we should be eating more of and they allow us to share the bounties of the harvest- ours and others who are growing nearby. If you’re feeling generous share them with a neighbour, or get preserving, you can process them and throw them in the freezer for a later date- we’re adding recipes to our website all the time so they’re worth a look! (or if you have a favourite do let us know and we can share it!)
-
Absolutely- just add in a ‘skip’ on your account on the dates that you want- you can add as many as you’d like.
-
Unfortunately no- we currently have 8 delivery rounds and 5 hubs, to manage them all effectively and make sure the deliveries are on time and our drivers arent out all day every day, we’ve designed the routes so that the boxes are efficiently clubbed together.
